On Nov. 15, the 2022 Semiconductor Industry Development Summit Forum was held online with the theme of using Science and Technology to create Chips in Hebei. This forum invited well-known industry experts and guests from semiconductor enterprises to discuss the future of the semiconductor industry in Hebei.

"The next five years will be a critical period for the development of the third-generation semiconductor industry. Hebei Province is one of the few provinces with a full third-generation semiconductor industry chain. Through strategic layout of the whole industry chain, it will promote the coordinated development of upstream and downstream enterprises, greatly shortening the process of silicon carbide industry from technology research and development to achievements transformation to large-scale application." Zheng Qingchao, the secretary-general of the third generation semiconductor industry innovation consortium of Hebei province, said that Hebei has established the third generation semiconductor industry innovation consortium, formed expert technical teams, and explored the trend of the third generation semiconductor technology at home and abroad. The industrial chain and innovation chain of Hebei Province were sorted out, the industrial chain map was drawn, and the list of key technologies was formulated. "In the discussion of the industrial chain and innovation chain, we deeply realized that the establishment of a consortium and an integrated innovation mechanism of mutual integration, symbiosis, division of work and cooperation, and benefit sharing of the upstream, middle and downstream can break through the bottlenecks of the innovation chain and the industrial chain, and improve the transformation efficiency of major scientific and technological achievements and industrialization."

Gu Wenjun, the chief analyst of ICWISE, attended the forum and delivered a speech. He said that Hebei has unique regional advantages in developing semiconductors. In recent years, the semiconductor industry in Hebei has developed rapidly and entered a new stage. It has formed comparative advantages in radio frequency chips, micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS), sensors and others, and has established a highly autonomous and controllable industrial system from materials, design to manufacturing, sealing and testing. This is a special period for the development of the semiconductor industry. With the complex international situation superimposed by the downward cycle, we need to think about how to counter the trend and make a long-term layout.

Later, Ding Huiwen, the director of SEMI-MSIG, Pan Yaobo, the general manager of CECS, Lai Zhiguo, the general manager of Suzhou HunterSun, and Song Changgeng, the director of ICWISE delivered keynote speeches on the topics of semiconductor ecological construction, the third generation semiconductor industry, China’s radio frequency chip, and the development trend of semiconductor industry.
